How I use Notion
I've built Notion automations that sync selected CRM deal fields into project trackers, create structured meeting-note pages from calendar context, and create tasks when upstream systems flag action items. The connection can access only pages or data sources shared with it and their accessible children. Webhooks are treated as change signals, with the current object fetched before any dependent update.

Authentication and access
Use an internal integration secret for one workspace or Notion OAuth 2.0 for a public integration. Enable only the read, update, insert, user, or comment capabilities required, then have a workspace owner explicitly share the relevant pages or data sources with the integration.

Constraints to confirm
- Notion averages 3 requests per second per integration and can permit short bursts; clients must honor 429 Retry-After responses.
- Requests are capped at 500 KB and 1,000 block elements, with additional limits for rich text, URLs, arrays, relations, and people properties.
- Capabilities do not grant workspace-wide access: the connection sees only pages shared with it and their accessible children, and some webhook events require matching capabilities.
- Webhooks signal that content changed but may aggregate rapid edits; fetch the current object before writing, and keep Notion ownership and deletion rules explicit in two-way syncs.
