DentrixAutomation & Integration

Connect approved Dentrix data access to scheduling, intake, and reporting workflows.

Dentrix integrations can use approved patient, schedule, treatment, clinical, and claims data. Desktop Dentrix and cloud-based Dentrix Ascend use separate access models and credentials.

How I use Dentrix

Desktop Dentrix uses an approved on-premises API flow and may require a local application or service at each office. Dentrix Ascend is a separate cloud product with its own API key and organization context. Program review and a signed agreement come before production access, and read and write permissions are separate. The practical design depends on the exact product, approved API category, and tables or functions Dentrix exposes to the application.

What the integration supports

Facts checked

Authentication and access

On-premises Dentrix applications register through the Dentrix API and obtain database access through the approved connection flow. Dentrix Ascend is a separate cloud product that uses an API key and organization context over HTTPS.

Useful data and actions

  • Patient demographics
  • Appointments, schedules, and operatories
  • Treatment plans, procedures, and procedure codes
  • Clinical notes, prescriptions, and medical alerts
  • Claims summaries and practice reporting data

Constraints to confirm

  • Program access requires application review, a signed Dentrix API Agreement, and issued credentials.
  • Desktop Dentrix is an on-premises integration; cloud-connected software needs a local application or service at each office.
  • Read and write access are separate categories, and writes are limited to approved tables, stored procedures, and functions.
  • Scheduling API access is unavailable to non-commercial participants, and Dentrix does not provide an HL7 interface.
