FlexportAutomation & Integration

Use authorized Flexport shipment data for milestone, document, and exception workflows.

With a token issued for the customer's Flexport account and enabled API products, I connect shipment, milestone, purchase-order, booking, and document data to structured communication and operational tasks.

How I use Flexport

Flexport's API coverage varies by product and account configuration. Purchase-order webhooks can push enabled order-management updates, while other workflows may need list-endpoint reconciliation. I use the available shipment milestones, document status, and customer metadata to prepare updates, alerts, and reporting, with network entities, locations, tags, and booking rules configured before write operations begin.

Guardrail: The token exposes only data available to the issuing Flexport account, and API products may require Flexport to enable the use case during onboarding.

What the integration supports

Facts checked

Authentication and access

Flexport issues an API token for the customer's authorized account and use case; requests send it as a bearer token with the required Flexport-Version header.

Useful data and actions

  • Shipments, legs, transportation mode, bookings, status, and milestone history
  • Purchase orders, line items, acknowledgements, and order-management versions
  • Commercial and transport documents associated with a shipment
  • Locations, legal entities, network identifiers, metadata, and carbon calculations where enabled

Constraints to confirm

  • The token exposes only data available to the issuing Flexport account, and API products may require Flexport to enable the use case during onboarding.
  • Booking parties, locations, and some tags must be configured in the customer's Flexport network before API submission; booking amendments are limited after departure.
  • Purchase-order webhooks require an account callback configured with Order Management selected. Do not assume every shipment or document change has the same webhook coverage; reconcile unsupported changes through the relevant list endpoint.

What I automate with Flexport

Available shipment milestone updates routed to clients and account teams

02

Delay and exception alerts escalated based on container or shipment context

03

Document status workflows tied to release, customs, or delivery steps

04

Operational dashboards refreshed from available freight milestone data

05

Internal follow-up tasks created when reconciled shipment status indicates a stall
