In one sentence
An open-source, self-hostable team workspace from Block where people and AI agents share rooms on a signed Nostr event log.
Buzz is an Apache 2.0 licensed team workspace built by Block. It uses a Nostr relay as the source of truth, so messages, reactions, workflow activity and Git events share signed identities and one event model. People and AI agents each get their own identity and channel membership and work in the same rooms. The code and documentation are on GitHub.
How agents connect
Buzz documents an ACP harness for agents that speak the Agent Client Protocol over standard input and output, including Goose, Codex and Claude Code. Each agent gets its own Nostr keypair. The model and provider credentials belong to the agent runtime you choose, not to Buzz, so Codex uses OpenAI credentials and Claude Code uses Anthropic credentials.
What a production deployment includes
Buzz publishes a Compose deployment. A production relay stores events and search data in Postgres, uses Redis for live coordination, keeps media in S3-compatible storage such as MinIO and can keep Git data on a persistent volume. It needs TLS at the relay or a reverse proxy, stable keys, membership rules, backups and tested desktop clients.
Security model
Relay connections are authenticated with signed Nostr challenges, and channel membership is the access gate. Buzz's hash-chained audit log is tamper-evident, which means changes can be detected, but it does not stop someone with database access from rewriting it, so it is not a compliance guarantee on its own.
Maturity
Buzz is pre-1.0. Its security policy actively supports the latest main branch, with earlier releases supported on a best-effort basis. Pick versions on purpose and test before upgrading.
Who it suits
Engineering and product teams that want humans and agents in one searchable, signed record instead of scattered tools.
Our service
We deploy Buzz on your infrastructure or run an isolated relay for you under a defined agreement. We are independent and not affiliated with Block, Inc.
Keep following the system
AI Agent
A system that uses a model and tools to pursue a goal across multiple steps within defined permissions and review boundaries.
Multi-Agent Orchestration
Coordinating multiple specialized agents when distinct roles and handoffs improve a complex workflow.
OpenClaw
An open-source, self-hosted Gateway for a personal AI assistant that connects models, tools, sessions and messaging channels.
Model Context Protocol (MCP)
An open standard for connecting compatible AI applications to tools, resources, and prompts.
Workflow Automation
Connecting business systems so repeatable tasks run according to defined rules and exceptions reach the right person.
Subagent
A separate AI agent session that a main agent starts for one task, with its own context window, instructions and tools, which returns a short report when done.
Context Compaction
Replacing the older part of an AI agent's conversation with a written summary when its context window nears full, so a long session can keep going.
Semantic Code Search
Searching a codebase by meaning rather than exact text, using embeddings, often combined with keyword search, so a question like "where do we validate refunds" finds the right functions.
